No breakthrough on Kohima food poisoning

Kohima, Jul 6 : Medical authorities in Nagaland investigating the mass food poisoning case at a Summer Camp here, which left atleast 124 children hospitalised on Saturday, are yet to find the cause of the incident.

Official sources here said the camp, organised by the Angami Catholic Women Association of Kohima, was attended by over 200 students in the age group of 13 to 18 years.

Around 124 children were admitted to various health care centres in Kohima when they were taken ill on saturday night after having chicken and dal served by the organisers.

Out of 74 children admitted at NHAK, two were released Monday morning and the other children are reportedly recuperating.

According to hospital sources, over 100 children were being checked, treated.

Some of them were admitted in two private nursing homes in Kohima and till late Monday evening, patients continued to flock to the hospital for medical treatment with complaints of high temperature accompanied by vomiting, nausea and abdominal cramping.

Meanwhile, the Parish of Cathedral, Kohima along with other representatives visited the hospitals where patients were admitted.

Many concerned organisations like Angami Public Organisation and individuals, including Dr Nicky Kire, MLA and Chairman of the Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board, also visited the patients.
