According to sources here today, the meeting convened by Chief Secretary Lalthara yesterday, was attended by both the Commissioner and Secretary of Health and Family Welfare and Higher and technical Education, Principal of IIPMT Kohima and Chairman Managing Committee Institute of Management and Medical Research Health Science (IMMRHS).
It discussed various issues regarding the establishment of the institutes in Nagaland, recognition and affiliation.
Expressing serious concern over the career of the hundreds of students, the government has reportedly asked the management of both the institutes to accelerate the process of getting recognised under the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Indian Technical Council (ITC), which is a must for any nursing and technical institute.
The sources also revealed that during the meeting it was made clear that the No Objection Certificates issued by the government departments to the institutes were only to facilitate establishment of the institute and not a recognition certificate.
The government, worried about the possible employments of the students from these institutes, has decided to extend all possible support in getting the institutes recognised.
The State Level Committee on Technical Education is to be activated to help the institutes get recognition from INC and ITC.
It may be recalled that the Naga Students Federation has seized the official documents of the IIPMT and asked its managing director to clarify the position and status of the registration of the Institution, but so far there was no response from the MD or the local managing committee.
