Nagaland Cabinet to seek clarification from Centre on NSCN(K)

The Nagaland cabinet decided to seek clarification from the Centre on confusions regarding which of the two factions, NSCN (Khaplang) and NSCN (Khole) was in cease fire agreement and whether both the factions reaffirmed their commitment to the same. According to a statement here today Nagaland Chief Secretary Lalthara, who is also the Cabinet Secretary, said the Nagaland Cabinet of Ministers, which met on July 23, also sought clarification from the Government of India on how should the security forces of Central Para-Military Force (CPMF) and state police deal with the two Naga National Council (NNC) factions, NNC (Accordist) and NNC (Non-Accordist), as both have a considerable number of armed cadres operating in Nagaland. The Cabinet also endorsed the decision of July 22 last by the Home Department to close down all check gates to stop illegal collection within the state except the inter-state gates and Chumukedima Inner Line Permit check gate. The Cabinet decided taht all the tax collecting departments would explore possibility of having common check gates at different strategic locations to minimize public inconvenience. The Cabinet also decided that the Chairman of the Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) of NSCN-IM and Cease Fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) of NSCN (K) be invited to urgently discuss the issues with the state government. On the declaration of Nagaland as a disturbed area under the Armed Forces (Special Power) Act, the Cabinet decided to stand by its earlier decisions.
