In a release last night Ms Rosemary Dzuvichu, the Member of the Joint Action Committee on Women Reservation (JACWR) of the NMA, said NMA has filed a writ petition at the Kohima Bench of the Gauhati High Court seeking implementation of women reservation in towns and municipalities and election to all these local bodies.
The writ petition was filed by two NMA members on the alleged failure of the state government to hold towns and municipal elections and implement women reservation as per the Nagaland Municipal (First Amendment) Act 2006, the release said.
