Rio seeks legislators help in expediting Naga peace process

Kohima , July 11 Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today sought the help of all legislators and political parties in expediting the ongoing peace talks between the Centre and the Naga underground groups.
Appreciating the concerns showed by the members for the unresolved Naga political conflict, Rio told the Assembly that although they are not directly involved in the political talks but as elected members they can pursue both the central leadership and underground groups to expedite the peace talks and find a solution.

"The Centre should first pronounce what it can give and what it cannot to the Nagas so that the Naga people can discuss and deliberate to arrive at a consensus on the issue,"he said.

He also appealed to all underground groups to honour the sentiments of the people and stop all illegal activities such as extortion, kidnapping and fratricidal killings and help create an atmosphere of peace.
