Sources revealed that the School Education Director was produced before the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Kohima and the Commission has been granted permission to take him into 72 hours remand for thorough interrogation in the bogus appointment of teachers.
Mention be made here that Minister for School Education and SCERT, Nyeiwang Konyak had recently pointed out that the department faced a serious shortfall of almost Rs 28 crore in meeting salary during 2008-09 due to the large number of unaccounted appointees in the department.
He also revealed that there was an addition of more than 2,000 employees on the payroll of the department from March 31, 2007 till March 31, 2008.
Further, the Vigilance Commission besides investigating the bogus appointment of teachers is also conducting physical verification of teachers and staff of the department in order to trace out bogus teachers.
