Opinion on Nagamese

• Continuing with the original purpose, Naga’s communicates mostly through Nagamese. Till date, it has no script of its own and so it can be accepted as a full pledged language. It can be called a raw language having no standard on its own. It is originated under compulsion for communicating between different Naga tribes who happened to have distinct mother tongue languages of their own. This compulsion has become more after realization the unique common identity of Naga origin. By now Naga’s should try to correct/streamline things which are under practice through compulsion.
Depending upon the readily available needed requirements anything is developed for human convenient. Despite Nagamese sub-standard most Nagas prefer it dearly in every spectrum of Naga society. In short, at present there is no easy accessible language other than Nagamese which is available as raw materials to develop a Naga common language. The origin of Nagamese is unique in nature. It has been derived from Assamese language which belongs to the North-East mother state i.e. Assam. As such, it is not a strange language especially in North-East region. Today some Naga dominated areas/states used the similarity of Nagamese language. Once Nagamese is accepted to be the Naga common language then by through processing and standardizing as well as infusing the Naga identity there is an ample scope of even becoming one of the popular language of the North-East region.
Language is also like a wild plant. Similarly, Nagamese maybe wild at present but if it is found to be a valuable asset for the mankind, it has to be nurtured and standardized in time. In this regard also, snatching of patent right through tissue culture is to be aware before it maybe too late. This opinion is shared as a laymen’s view so that the competent authority, NGOs etc may examine in line with the expert in linguistics.
