In the contest for the lone Lok Sabha seat from the State, NPF candidate CM Chang
defeated two time Lok Sabha MP, K Asungba Sangtam of Congress by a whopping 4,83,003.
Chang bagged 8,32,206 votes, while Sangtam managed to garner 3,49,203.Dr Rilanthung Odyuo of Trinamool Congress got only 8,1074 votes.
The winning margin has created a sort of a record in the State and is also expected to be one of the highest victory margins in the country.
Snatching all four seats of the Assembly by-elections, in Dimapur-III, Azheto Zhimomi of NPF won by a margin of 8,032 votes against his Congress rival, Y Vikheho Awomi. Azheto got 12,397 votes while Vikheho had 4,365 votes.
In Chizami, Deo Nukhu of NPF won by 6,663 votes against his rival Kewekhape Therie of Congress. Nukhu got 13,971 votes while Therie bagged 7,308 votes.
In the Tizit seat, T Aloh of NPF won by 2,840 votes against his closest rival P Paiwang Konyak of RJD. Aloh garnered 8,749 votes, P Paiwang Konyak 5,909 votes while former Lok Sabha MP and Congress candidate, Wangyuh Konyak got 1,470 votes and forfeited his security deposit.
In Tuensang Sadar-II, Kejong Chang of NPF won by a margin of 5,653 votes. Chang got 11,345 votes against 5,691 vote of Wongto Chang of Congress.
