Kohima, Mar 1 : Kelhousithie Kire, IPS, today assumed office of the Director General of Police of Nagaland. He takes over from J. Changkija, IPS, who is retired. Taking over the charge from outgoing DGP J. Changkija, the new DGP urged policemen of the state to ‘examine themselves’ and extend their services in whatever capacity they can, for the sake of the department and for the welfare of the state.
Expressing his association with the outgoing DGP, J. Changkija, for many years, DGP Kire also said to look forward for Changkija’s continuous support and cooperation.
In his brief speech, Changkija said Nagaland Police have strength of around 24,000, making it the biggest force after Assam’s. The efficiency of Nagaland Police is well known all over the country, he claimed.
Changkija also recalled the ‘tremendous contribution’ being made by Nagaland Police in many parts of the country.
