TAMENGLONG, Feb 9
: A selection test for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tamenglong JNVST, was held today at four centres, two at district headquarters for Tamenglong block at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School and Tousem block at United Builders School, while another two were held at Nungba and Tamei. The number of students were reduced for JNVST this year.

Out of 389 total students who got enrolled to appear in the JNVST only 304 students appeared today from three examination centres. When this news was filed the Nungba examination centre was yet to report. However, 111 total students got registered to appear in the JNVST 2009.

In the meantime, V Ramana, principal of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tamenglong informed IFP that the students were reduced compared to last year. This may be lack of publicity during the time of enrolment. The task for enrolment and publicity had been assigned to the Zonal Education Office, Tamenglong but it was started late, he regretted.

We had given 40 days extension for submission of forms, one from principal level with 10 days and one level through Regional Office, RO with 30 days. This year we had also organized free coaching for intending candidate to appear in the JNVST by the teaching staff of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tamenglong for 11 days, the principal also stated.

Further, he also stated that out of 304 students and more the vidyalaya is going to select only 40 students. The total strength to select the students in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is 80 but due to too much congestion while staying at the temporary site we are going to select only 40 students, he added.

At present, the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tamenglong is staying at the complex of Tamenglong Autonomous District Council. The permanent site is under construction at Duigailong village which is 4 to 5 kms from Tamenglong district headquarters.
