Kohima, Feb 10 : Vehicular movement along the 5 km stretch of East Circular Road, between Mission junction/Kitsubozou, Seikhazou to NH 150/checkpost junction near BSF camp, Kohima, was affected today due to the indefinite road blockade imposed by the East Circular Road Development Board (ECRDB), Kohima, “due to government’s dubious attitude towards East Circular Road.”
The blockade was, however, later called off at around 1:00 pm after the Minister for roads & bridges, G Kaito Ayeh, agreed to the demands made by the Board.
“In response to the demand of East Circular Road Development Board (ECRDB) upon representation to the government for a time bound development of the road, the Minister for roads and bridges, G Kaito Ayeh, has agreed in toto the demand made by the Board in the presence of the executive members of the Board and MLAs Dr. Nicky and Er. Vikho Yhosu, and concerned EE PWD (R&B) South Division with letter of assurance of completing within time bound month of April 2009,” the Board chairman Moselie Kuotsu and secretary Vilhoubeilie Solo stated.
Following the prompt action taken by the government, executive members of ECRDB extended appreciation to the Minister and assured him of their “full cooperation in all respects and that the endeavour of the works would continue to be evermore and better ever.” In lieu of the agreement, the indefinite road blockade has been called off, the duo stated.
