‘Council Halls must be a place where justice prevails’

Dimapur, February 8 (MExN): At the inauguration of the Sematilla Council Hall today at Sematilla Colony, Dimapur, Y. Vikheho Awomi, former Chairperson, Dimapur Municipal Council, said that as much as the village council is an important body it must also be a place where justice prevails.

Awomi said that today the village council is a powerful body recognized by the central government and functions under the Deputy Commissioner and therefore in the same respect that hall should be a place where real justices prevail.  Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, he urged the members of the Sematilla Council and elders of the colony to let the council hall live up to its reputation of being a powerful and respectful platform where justice is equally delivered to all people. He also called upon the residents of Sematilla to respect the decisions made by the council.

The chief guest who represents Ward No. 7 in the DMC spelled out that he is always attached with the people of Sematilla and would continue to do so and further thanked the residents for regarding him as one of the member of the colony.

 Awomi appreciated the people for living in cohesive spirit and thereby contributing towards the welfare of the colony as a whole. Seeing the enthusiasm of the people he said that the colony would continue to progress in all aspects.  As a token of love and appreciation the chief guest donated a sum of Rs. 25,000 towards the council fund and Rs. 5,000 to the women group of the colony who presented folksong during the programme.

The former DMC chairperson was accompanied by his colleagues Hokivi Chishi, Tovihoto Ayemi, Vikheho Zhimo and Pihoto Awomi. Vihoshe Kinimi, chairman, Sematilla Council chaired the function and Tohovi, Associate Pastor, DBSA said the invocation prayer. Vikato Jimomi, GB, Sematilla Colony proposed vote of thanks while Ahokhu Jimo, council member pronounced the benediction.
