DIMAPUR, Apr 12 – Dimapur Police (East) on Tuesday took into custody 10 persons on the charge of violation of Information and Technology Act after it was detected that the internet cafes being run by them were not maintaining the required log registers with date and time and the particulars of persons who were accessing the internet.
The surprise checking under East Police jurisdiction was carried out in view of the genuine apprehension that unregulated use by unidentified customers may pose serious problems related to cyber crimes, a press statement from PRO Dimapur Police informed today.
The defaulting internet cafes include Cyber World, Crazy World Cyber Café, Cyber Zone, DTH Service & Web Parlour, Puja Tele Link, Tricon Enterprises, Abha Foundation, Cyber Zone, One Stop Café, Cyber & Gaming and S Yepthomi Library.
In this connection, a case under the IT Act 2008 has been registered against the proprietors of the defaulting cafes.
Meanwhile, on receipt of specific information, two persons were apprehended by Dimapur police for extortion at Chumukedima area. The accused, belonging to the NSCN/GPRN (Khole-Kitovi) outfit, have been identified as Kaphur Chibong Yim and Solomon Yeotho. They were nabbed with GPRN/NSCN tax receipts. A case has been registered in this connection, the release informed.
Gospel programme: With the objective to reach out the gospel to the jail inmates, Christ for the Downtrodden Ministry (CFTDM) in collaboration with Salvation Ministry organised a special gospel programme for the inmates yesterday at District Jail, Kohima.
The team was led by Ato Angami, president of Christ for the Downtrodden Ministry and Atoshe Awomi, president of Salvation Ministry, who themselves had served term in prison in the past.
