The song ‘I Love You’ by Arep Changkija, a well known singer-songwriter from Nagaland contributed in the ‘Unified by Grace International Edition Volume 1’released in November 2009 which aims in helping with the West Ankole, Ugandan medical mission effort.
The album is a project of Quickstar Productions; Baltimore, Maryland, USA which is specializes in designing music-marketing campaigns and supplying digital distribution services for record labels and independent artists. 21 Christian artists from across the world features in this album.
Arep in his own words said that he participate in this benefit compilation CD chiefly for two reasons. Arep Changkija’s ‘I love you’ goes global
The song ‘I Love You’ was originally part of my debut album ‘Rock of All Times’ released in 1995. This new version was recorded in June/July 2009 at Clef Ensemble, Kohima, under the expertise of Alfred and his team of recording engineers. The musicians are Khyo Ngully on Keyboards, Atsa Rothrong on Guitars, Mosmoa on Bass/Acoustic guitars, and Yangkumba Jinger on Drums. Valuable music critique came from Temjen Peter, former Station Director, AIR.
Since his school days in the early 70’s Arep has been a member of several prominent bands, was a radio artiste and western music announcer in the All India Radio, Kohima, besides picking up many awards for his musical talents. Though his profession in the construction business takes up much of his time, music is what he loves to do. Arep is an accomplished musician embracing many genres and influences, particularly in western folk-rock and Contemporary Christian styles. He released his debut album ‘Rock of All Times’ in 1995, and this song, ‘I Love You’, is one of his best works from that album, showcasing the timeless qualities of his compositions.
As evident from this song, Arep has a very down to earth approach to song-writing – simple lyrics, soulful melody, and performed straight from the heart. He is passionate about spreading the good news (God’s Grace) through his music, which can be best described as unique and compelling. ‘I Love You’ says it all. Besides music, he loves sports, and reads and travels a lot. Arep lives in Dimapur, Nagaland, with his doctor wife, and they have one college going son. He is currently working on his next album.
